The Starting Line – Training to WIN #tuesdaytruth
Manhood is often assumed in our culture. Rites of passage once held sacred, have been replaced by the wrong things. It’s time that we reset our cleats on the track of manhood, and start the race right. This month, we’re examining what it means to be a man, and to run the race of manhood.
No runner wins a race without training. He cannot just wake up and roll out of bed and hit the track and expect to win.
This is true in nearly every area of life. Just about the only thing that you CAN tackle without training is the art of being a slob or a mook.
As we prepare to run our race, let’s ask ourselves, what muscles do we need to stretch? What exercises do we need to do? What trainers do we need to work with?
In my own life, I struggle with my physical fitness. I do not eat right, and I do not exercise enough. I start two or three times a year on a quest to get fit, only to give up a few weeks in. This is an area in my life that I know I need to train. I need to practice my willpower, to deny my cravings, and sacrifice some time, energy, and cheetos.
The areas that you need to train in may be different than mine – maybe you need to improve on your writing, or your relationships, or a skillset for work.
Without playing the “beat myself up game” – identify an area or two in your life that need some training. Then let’s make a plan to bring that area in shape.
What books can you read to learn about this part of your life?
What people do you need to confide in to grow deeper?
What things do you need to stop doing in order to grow?
What things do you need to start doing?
I feel like we need to set a concrete goal.
In X number of month, I will accomplish XXX.
Give it a deadline.
Then identify your plan to get there.
Identify the people you plan to rely on for accountability,
Then make it happen.
You are at you eat… and watch, listen, and read. #media #think #wisdom #manhood #manlihood #man #manly #beabetterman #manliness #beardedvillians @starttheworld @manovotional @manlymatter @artofmanliness @orderofman @conqueringmanhood @_wolfandiron @ beardedvillians @manupempower @manlinessmanual @beardedmancave @themanlycorner @brobible

The Starting Line – Getting on the track #tuesdaytruth
Manhood is often assumed in our culture. Rites of passage once held sacred, have been replaced by the wrong things. It’s time that we reset our cleats on the track of manhood, and start the race right. This month, we’re examining what it means to be a man, and to run the race of manhood.
It’s so easy sometimes to get derailed. One candy bar, and that strict eating plan gets thrown out the window. A short skirted co-worker bends over to pick up a paperclip, and your mind heads down a path it never should. One negative word from your wife, and all the progress you’ve made at controlling your own language is tossed out the window.
How do we get back on track once we’ve been derailed? How do we move forward when we’ve lost our momentum?
The answer is simple. Forgive yourself for your screw up. Seek forgiveness from anyone you’ve hurt (including the men who are holding you accountable.) Then move forward. If the forgiveness is done – then don’t look back. Don’t bring it up. Don’t let it derail you any longer. Move forward.
You can do this. Whatever race you are running, it matters. If you are a better man, the world is a better place. Your place in it matters. So don’t let your own failures keep you from that.
The Starting Line – How to START running the race of manhood
Manhood is often assumed in our culture. Rites of passage once held sacred, have been replaced by the wrong things. It’s time that we reset our cleats on the track of manhood, and start the race right. This month, we’re examining what it means to be a man, and to run the race of manhood.
If we’re looking at the start of the race – it may be too late for many of us. We may or may not have had a defining moment, when our father passed along his mantle, or the elders bestowed the title of man on us. Chances are, we just grew up, moved out, and assumed we were men. Without fanfare, and quite possibly, without any idea of what it really means to be one.
We may in fact, BE men, but I think it’s important to note that identifying as a man, and BEING a man are not the same thing. You may be lacking in honor, in work ethic, in integrity, in strength, in confidence. These things don’t exempt you from manhood, but I think they are identifiers that we have a hurdle we must jump over.
If we want to START the race – we need to make the choice, and just do it This is our starting pistol, and we are going to start running.
Let’s evaluate our lives, asking the hard questions, and demanding answers of ourselves. Let’s make a choice to tackle those issues, and rise up to the challenge set before us.
Declare it with me – TODAY – AND FROM THIS DAY FORWARD. I WILL BE A MAN, IN THE FULLEST SENSE. I WILL NOT ALLOW MY EXCUSES AND MY SHORTCOMINGS TO DOMINATE MY LIFE. I WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR GOOD IN THE LIVES OF THOSE AROUND ME. I WILL NOT BOW TO THE PRESSURES AND TEMPTATIONS OF THIS LIFE. I WILL LIVE A LIFE OF HONOR, INTEGRITY, AND DISCIPLINE.
